Now that we are once again able to play competitive matches we are all up for retaining the School Village football league cup. The school football team have had a great start with our first match at home against Dundale School. The game started very evenly with both teams creating good opportunities. As the first half went on we started passing the ball very quickly and managed to get behind Dundale’s stubborn defence. Oscar did brilliantly to set Isla up for the opening goal before scoring himself. Ben was very strong in centre midfield and we continued to press forward and finished the first half 4-0 up.
The second half saw us continue to press forward but Dundale managed to pull a goal back. This didn’t deter us as we continued to press forward before restoring our four goal advantage towards the end, meaning the final score was 5-1. Oscar received player of the match for his excellent passing skills and scoring some well taken goals. Later in the week we then took on Wingrave School. Again the children put on a great performance, their super team work enabled them to come away with our second win, with the final score being 7 – 1! A special mention goes to Thomas Croxford who had never played for the team before and was called up that morning. We are looking forward to seeing how the rest of the season unfolds.
