FOAS stands for Friends of Aldbury School and we are the equivalent of a PTA (parent/teachers association), FOAS is a registered charity: 1030051.
The main function of FOAS is to raise funds that will provide equipment, educational material and other items for the school not provided from statutory funds: e.g computers, play equipment, day trips for classes, swimming lessons, etc. We do this by holding fund raising events such as the Quiz and Curry Nights, Christmas Fair, Race Nights and most importantly our biggest fund raising event is the Aldbury Village May Fair.
We meet approximately every half term to discuss and plan events that due to take place. It is an excellent way to meet people and get involved in your child’s educational environment, and there is a great sense of achievement when moneys are raised from the various events.
There is also a sub-committee who are responsible for organising the annual May Fair (first bank holiday in May) for which FOAS have overall responsibility of organizing.
We keep a bank account with all moneys raised and the school will make funding requests which are discussed at the next FOAS meeting and payment is made promptly to the school. Without the help of FOAS the school would not have many of the things that we all take for granted.
