At Aldbury we have a long- term child centered approach to PE. We aim to engage children in physical activity in a positive way in school so that they continue to be active outside of school and for the rest of their lives.
Our PE curriculum is progressive and skills based and children also are taught essential learning behaviours through PE and the rest of the curriculum. These are Personal, Social, Cognitive, Health and Fitness, Creativity and Physical.
Our PE curriculum is also supported by External Sports Coaches who take three classes per week. We use Marathon kids for regular running sessions and the children are able to track how far they have run during an academic year. Each week after-school and at lunchtimes there are a range of clubs offered to promote sport and physical activity. Throughout the year children also compete in intra and inter school events within school, other schools and Tring school.
During playtime and lunchtimes physical activities are strongly encouraged through the recently revamped Wildwood Den and the Trim trail. Play leaders from Class 4 also set up games to encourage children to stay active.
