Welcome to Class 2!
We are so excited to welcome you and your child to a brand new school year at Aldbury. We have a wonderful team teaching Class 2 this year! Mrs Nocera will be with the class on Mondays, Miss Moore will teach on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, and Mrs Godman will teach on Thursdays and Fridays. We are also super lucky to have our amazing Learning Support Assistant, Miss Bullifent, in class with us every single day.
We hope this page gives you a lovely window into all the exciting things happening in Class 2. Together, we work hard to create a calm, warm, and inclusive space where every child feels happy, safe, and free to grow at their own unique pace.
Staying connected with you is so important to us. Please feel free to send us a message on ClassDojo anytime, and we will aim to get back to you within 48 hours. You are also very welcome to book an appointment through the school office or catch us straight after school for a quick chat. If you have any queries in the morning, please direct those to the main office so we can focus on settling your children warmly into their day.
We are looking forward to a brilliant year together!

We started with a warm welcome to all the parents who joined us before talking through what our school aims will look like in Class 2.
We want our children to be curious. Hopefully, you have already heard about some of our active outdoor learning in maths, where we have been jumping along number lines and making the most of our amazing school grounds to support our learning. We also want to use technology to enhance learning. The skills we develop in computing will be used across other subjects where they can add something meaningful and help children to learn in different ways.
We want our children to feel challenged. We set a high bar, but we will do everything we can to help every child reach it. We have lots of strategies to support children along the way, from word banks and sentence stems to cubes, number lines and number fans. We want learning to be ambitious, accessible, broad and balanced for everyone.
Most importantly, we want our children to feel safe and nurtured in our classroom. Please keep talking to us. We want to work closely with you so that we know your children well and can support them to be happy, confident and successful at school.
During the session, we introduced the Class 2 team and explained which days we each work. We also took a brief look at our curriculum topics for the year; there is much more detail about what the children will be learning on these Class 2 pages of the school website. We shared our typical weekly timetable and highlighted some important dates for the year ahead.
Finally, we talked through home learning and, in particular, the importance of reading. More than anything, we want children to develop a genuine love of books and reading. Regular reading at home makes such a difference, so please keep sharing books, listening to your child read and talking together about what you are reading.
