Class 3 stepped back in time just before half-term for an immersive, action-packed Ancient Greek Day. The classroom was transformed into a hub of classical philosophy, myth, and drama as the children explored the foundational ideas of Western civilisation through hands-on activities.
The day kicked off with a brilliant test of logic as the pupils tackled the Stomachion, a complex mathematical puzzle attributed to Archimedes. Turning from geometry to literature, the children then dived into the world of gods and monsters, crafting their own unique mythical characters and penning epic adventures worthy of Homer.
To explore the roots of democracy, Class 3 used the Greek alphabet to hold an authentic ostracism—the ancient practice of voting to temporarily banish a citizen to protect the state! The historical deep-dive concluded with a flourish of creativity, as the children designed and crafted traditional Greek theatre masks featuring brilliantly exaggerated features to reflect the comedy and tragedy of ancient plays. πππ¦
From mathematical mysteries to democratic debates, the classical world is full of inspiration—and Class 3 made the most of every historic moment! πΊπ¨
