The excitement was palpable in the hall today for one of the most anticipated events in the Aldbury calendar. In a long-standing tradition, our youngest learners in Reception took centre stage to help decide the fate of our oldest pupils. With the whole school watching, Ezra and Freya had the special honour of drawing names from the bag to select this year’s May King and Queen from Year 6.

There was a huge cheer as Grayson was announced as our May King and Hattie as our May Queen! These two will have the prestigious role of leading the May Fair parade and being officially crowned during the festivities. It was really lovely to see the genuine joy and support from all the children as they celebrated their peers. 🌸👑

From the smallest hands to the biggest honours, our school heritage is full of inspiration—and our new Monarchs are ready to make the most of every royal moment! 💛

Design and empathy went hand-in-hand before the Easter Break as Class 4 took on a sophisticated engineering challenge. The task was to design and build models for fully accessible playgrounds, ensuring that every child—regardless of ability—could join in the fun. Each model required at least one functional moving part, pushing the pupils to apply their knowledge of mechanisms and structural stability to real-world problem-solving.

The project reached a lovely conclusion as our designers turned into teachers, sharing their finished models with the younger pupils across the school. It was wonderful to watch Class 4 explain the mechanics behind their swings, roundabouts, and ramps, while the younger children were fascinated to see the miniature playgrounds in action. 🛠️🎡

From inclusive thinking to creative engineering, the world of design is full of inspiration—and our pupils are making the most of every moving part! 💙

However, there can only be one winner. With a staggering 1,832 points, the winning house is… the Blues! 🏆 Not only did they send in the most photographs, but they also had the highest percentage of students participating.

To visualise the complex history of the period, the children also created a physical family tree of Edward the Confessor using string and paper. This helped them trace the fascinating links between Viking and Saxon lines, illustrating how they were often half-brothers.

⛪ This morning we popped over to church for our weekly worship with Revd Michelle. It’s always a special time in our week to pause, reflect, and come together as a school community. 🌟

Afterwards, Class 3 stayed behind to explore some of their BIG questions linked to their RE topic “What is it like to follow God?” 💭

The children showed wonderful curiosity and thoughtful reflection, asking some real head-scratchers such as:
🌱 Which came first – the tree or the seeds?
❓ Who created God?

We are so proud of the way they engage with faith, ideas and wonder — living out our vision to “live life in all its fullness.” ✨

Although I haven’t been at the school as long as our leavers, I’ve had the joy of spending three wonderful years with them. And what a group they are — full of kindness, humour, determination and heart.

You’ve each brought something special to our school, and it’s been a privilege to watch you grow. 💙

Last week, Class 4 took to the stage for their much-anticipated production of Oliver with a Twist — and what a show it was! The performance was packed with humour, heart and heaps of talent.

From the opening scene to the final bow, the children wowed us with their acting, singing and storytelling. There were brave solo performances, brilliant comic timing, and some truly clever staging that brought Victorian London to life on stage. The audience were captivated throughout, and the proud smiles said it all!

A huge thank you goes to Mrs Chandler, our director extraordinaire, whose creativity, patience and enthusiasm helped bring the whole production together. And of course, a massive well done to all the children — your confidence, teamwork and sheer joy in performing made this a production to remember.
